Hockaday’s academic facilities are second to none. The Ashley H. Priddy Lower School features well-equipped classrooms and gathering spaces. The Liza Lee Academic Research Center contains divisional libraries, archives, audiovisual production rooms, the school bookstore, and student publication offices. The Margaret Doggett Crow Science Building pushes students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
On March 28, 2025, 16 Eighth Grade students participated in the National French Contest (Le Grand Concours), a prestigious annual competition for French language learners across the United States.
Last week, the Biology, Impact, and the Zoo class, a Social Impact class taught by Brandi Finazzo and Laura Day, held the seventh annual BIZ Shark Tank Pitch Contest.
This week, Hockaday welcomed the 2024–25 Allman Fellows, Dr. Twila Moon, Deputy Lead Scientist and Science Communication Liaison at the National Snow and Ice Data Center, and Dr. Heïdi Sevestre, Glaciologist, Speaker, and Author, to campus.
Latin students competed in the Junior Classical League Area Competition this month, and Spanish students participated in the Spanish Competition hosted by Good Shepherd Episcopal School.
Three Middle School Robotics teams competed in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge Division, where they worked together starting in August to develop both an autonomous LEGO robot design that could earn points in up to 15 different missions and an independent innovation project that solves a real-world problem of their choice.
Congratulations to the Upper School Robotics Team, the Hockabots, which competed in the FIRST Robotics FTC Semi-Area Championship held at Woodrow Wilson High School.
