English Language Support Program

The English Language Support Program offers support to students within our international student community who qualify for supplemental language services based on internal and external language testing results.

This program offers three courses as transitional or complementary classes taken along with the regular curriculum:
  • Intermediate English for Speakers of Other Languages
  • Advanced English for Speakers of Other Languages
  • United States History Speakers of Other Languages
Each of these is a full year course meeting three days a week for three credits. These courses offer the students extra practice in second language skills that typically are difficult to master. The United States History class offered to eighth graders addresses the gaps in knowledge an American student would have learned prior to eighth grade. Students generally enroll in the support classes for a period of one year. Equipping our international girls to perform to their highest level while at Hockaday is the goal.

Please contact us at any time if you would like more information on any of the ways we can support your daughter’s learning. We welcome your questions and would be happy to connect with you.
