Coach Amgad Badawi was the National Team and Olympic Coach for Lebanon during the London 2012 Olympic Games and joins the Hockaday coaching staff this spring as the Fencing Varsity Coach.

In 2011, he helped bring 6 medals to the Lebanese team in foil, sabre and epee at the 12th Pan Arab Games in Qatar. Mr. Badawi’s students have won many national and international medals. In 2014, one of his students became the youngest fencer to ever win the Cadet World Cup in foil at the age of 14. Mr. Badawi himself is a former seven-time individual national medalist and Egyptian National Team member. He received his coaching training from the Italian legend Maestro Antonio Di Ciolo and brings over 20 years of fencing experience as an athlete and coach to our club.

As recognition of his proficiency in methods for coaching fencers of all levels, Coach Badawi is certified as a Maitre d’Armes in Epee, Foil, and Sabre by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA). He is also recognized as a national level referee in all three weapons and has refereed internationally for the past 6 years.
