 The Boxer

We will be able to utilize our amazing new facility with innovative staging and the audience wrapping the playing spaces for a more intimate experience.
A hilarious silent movie written for the stage, replete with a hard luck story, an unlikely romance, music and percussion on stage. Written by Dallas based playwright Matt Lyle who is making a splash nationally. Lyle's work has been commissioned by Dallas Theatre Center and has been written about in American Theatre Magazine. He will be working with the cast and crew to create the world of his wacky play, leading workshops on physical comedy and traditional vaudeville style, as well as visiting to give notes throughout the rehearsal process.
Gender and color blind casting will be used in the audition process.
(Ensemble company of female and male actors and musicians, looking for a pianist, banjo or fiddle player and percussionists, approximately 15 performers total)

This magical and timeless tale will spring to life on our brand new mainstage with all the joie de vivre it truly deserves! The student singers, actors and dancers will have the opportunity to perform a full Broadway production of a beloved Disney tale. The roles are many and varied but each is colorful and enchanting. The entire performing arts faculty will be involved and both cast and crew will have a spellbinding experience. 

Gender and color blind casting will be used in the audition process.

This quintessential, classic tragedy will be performed by an all female cast from the Hockaday Theatre Company (advanced theatre class).  The company will be given Shakespeare text workshops, stage combat lessons and fight choreography instruction. The performance will run under 2 hours. This play contains some of the most beautiful and creative language ever written. It is a fascinating exploration of what it is to be human.
