Jane Cook '18 Selected for the United States Equestrian Federation’s Emerging Athlete Eventing 18 Program

Jane Cook '18 is one of only 17 under-18 eventers in the country to be selected to the USEF program. This talent-spotting program identifies promising young athletes who show the potential to one day represent the United States on an Olympic or other international eventing team. Eventing is the equestrian sport that encompasses the disciplines of dressage, cross-country jumping, and stadium jumping. It was first used as a test of military horsemanship skills, and it was first featured at the Olympics in 1912.

Riding is a tremendous passion of Jane's and while it takes up a great deal of time outside of school, she has maintained and even improved her GPA while pursuing riding at a high level. On January 7 Jane will accept the award for top-ranked Junior Preliminary-level rider in North Texas, and she will take second place (Reserve Champion) in this division for the entire Area V 4-state region. Two years ago she was the top-ranked Beginner Novice level rider in North Texas, and earlier this year, she was the top-ranked Training level rider in the United States for several weeks, until she moved up to the next level.
