Can Waste be Made Useful
1/30/2013
Chemistry students have been working diligently to determine whether or not waste can be made useful. The second quarter of Chemistry culminated in a project that posed the question, "Can Waste be Made Useful?"
Students were given a "waste" solution containing unknown metal ions; they proposed methods to find the identity of the ions and then carried those procedures out in lab. The following days resulted in some chaos, a few failures, and a whole lot of learning. Each group created a research poster detailing their results and several are on display in the first floor of the science building.
