Please click here to start the online application. Once the online application and the application fee is submitted, please use the online checklist in the parent portal as a guide to submit the Parent Statement, Student Questionnaire, and a copy of the applicant's birth certificate. Please submit all of these items in the online parent portal by December 15, 2019.
Students can take either the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Visit www.ssat.org to register for the SSAT. Please call 1-800-446-0320 for ISEE information and registration or register online at www.iseetest.org. For all applicants for whom English is their second language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required in addition to the SSAT or the ISEE. For Grade 8 only, the TOEFL Junior can be a substitute for the TOEFL. For more information, please visit www.ets.org.
After you have submitted the online application, please visit the checklist in the parent portal. Enter email addresses for your daughters' current Math teacher, English teacher and Head of School and the confidential evaluation forms will be sent to the teachers automatically. You may confirm receipt of evaluation forms in the parent portal.
Once you have submitted your daughter's application, please locate the Transcript Release Form in the parent portal checklist or by clicking here and click on 'Edit this Request'. You will have the opportunity to enter the email address of the school administrator who is responsible for grades, transcripts, or progress reports at your daughter’s current school. This will allow the school to upload your daughter‘s transcripts directly to the student application file. This checklist item will be marked complete once the transcripts have been received by Hockaday. The deadline for the receipt of your child’s school records (Fall 2018, 2017-2018, and 2016-2017), if available, is January 28, 2019.
