Land Use Plan: Athletics and Wellness

Hockaday has embarked on an unprecedented effort to design a Land Use Plan for our athletics, recreation, physical education, health, and wellness facilities, both indoors and outdoors, that is grounded in our values and captures our aspirations.

Our Athletics and Wellness programs help students to develop a sense of confidence, self-esteem, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and cooperation that prepares them to meet challenges both on and off the field. This visionary approach integrates Athletics across the Hockaday student experience in exciting, new ways.

As a result, we selected HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, and a leader in sports and recreation planning and design, to lead our planning effort. HOK is extremely enthusiastic to partner with Hockaday on this initiative, and they were selected based on their profound appreciation for our institutional values, the Four Cornerstones, and our ambitions for the quality of the student experience.

The entire Hockaday community was invited to engage in this process beginning Spring 2019 through a series of small group discussions, open houses, in-school meetings, surveys, and more to gather input and feedback to inform a thoughtful plan for our Athletics and Wellness programs.

We will update the community regularly on our progress and to share your thoughts, please contact Director of Athletics Deb Surgi.

Athletics at Hockaday is both a Cornerstone, built into our foundation from the beginning, and also an essential part of contemporary Hockaday student life.
