Kaleidoscope Day Camp

Summer at Hockaday's longstanding day camp, Kalediscope Day Camp, occurs in two-week sessions with a variety of activities to include imaginative play, critical thinking, creative expression, outdoor exploring, cooking, science, and much more. Each session will center around fun and engaging themes. Each two-week session will differ from previous sessions, so join us for multiple sessions! 

Lunch is included in the tuition for Kaleidoscope Day Camp. Please do not send lunch with your camper.

Before and After Care are available at the time of registration.

Is your child ready for Kaleidoscope Day Camp?

If you answered YES to all 10 questions, your child is ready for camp! If you answered NO to one of the questions above, we encourage you to register for the 2024 camp season.

FAQ: My child is entering Kindergarten. Which Kaleidoscope camp do I choose?

Campers must be entering kindergarten and have turned 5 by June 1, 2023 for Kaleidoscope K-2. Campers who are entering kindergarten but have not yet turned 5 by June 1 will be placed in the camp for Ages 3-4 with other campers who are also entering kindergarten.

Kinder Camp

Join us July 24 through July 28 for Kinder Camp! What a special week we have planned for our youngest campers! Spend a week with us in this fabulous day camp experience. We'll have lots of playtime, arts 'n crafts, stories, experiments, scavenger hunts, outside games, and much more!

Ages:  4-5 and entering Kindergarten
(Campers must be 4 by February 1, 2023)

Kindergarten Prep

Is your child ready for kindergarten? Kindergarten Prep is a fun yet purposeful camp offered for children that will be entering kindergarten in the fall. Students will prepare for kindergarten by sharpening their phonological awareness, phonics, basic math skills, and social skills. Participation in multiple weeks is encouraged. This camp is created and taught by a Certified Academic Language Therapist.

Explorations Camps & Classes

Lower School Explorations offers weekly in-person camps for children entering kindergarten through fourth grade. Programs offer a variety of activities and enrichment that span a wide range of interests. Classes are offered as half-day options with the opportunity to create a full-day of programming by selecting a morning and an afternoon program. Participants who attend a combination of a morning and afternoon offering within the same week will have lunch added to their camp registration for an additional fee. Programs that take place as a full-day option have lunch included in the tuition. 

Lunch is served to all campers who participate in a full-day schedule of programs, which includes a morning and afternoon program within the same week or a full-day program. Lunch includes hot and cold options, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt options, a fresh salad bar, and dessert on Fridays.
 
Register for multiple weeks to create a summer experience of creative learning and enrichment! 

Explorations takes place in person June 12 through July 28 with morning sessions occuring 9:00 a.m. to noon and afternoon sessions occurring 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch takes place from noon to 12:30 p.m. Before and After Care is available for an additional fee.

  • First Bike Ride

    Coach Stewart Ball and his staff of coaches have taught hundreds of children to ride a bike. Let us teach you to ride in this popular, low pressure, enjoyable class. All you need is a bike, helmet, water bottle, and snack. Bikes can be kept on campus throughout the week's class.

    Come join our fun and knowledgeable Play-Well instructors as we use Lego® materials to recreate our favorite animated friends and their worlds! After building our most beloved princesses, villains, and sidekicks, we’ll rescue princes and princesses from towers, explore enchanted castles, and maybe even fly on a magic carpet or two. All we need is your creativity and a little magic to bring it all to life!

  • Suzuki Violin

    This Suzuki violin intensive taught by Hockaday’s Dr. Christine Rewolinski will focus on the fundamental elements of gross and fine motor skills and aural training consistent with the pedagogical skills and outcomes of both sensory-motor stage learning and violin performance. Independent movement, aural reasoning, visual-spatial reasoning, social interaction, sensory-motor acuity, and developed confidence in both solo and ensemble performance are the benefits of this world-renowned program.
