A Note from HPA President Carla Bolden

It's that time again! Can you feel the excitement and anticipation of the new school year in your household?  Whether you are reluctantly leaving your flip-flops in the closet or can't wait to jump into your uniform, the Hockaday Parents' Association (HPA) is ready to welcome you back! 

 

Over the summer, Bonner Allen, Vice President-Elect, and the New Family Outreach (NFO) Chairs welcomed new families with over 30 summer events ranging from Zoom Coffees to Popsicles in the Park. Resale Chairs; Deanne Lee, Carol Miele, and Julie Teinert held three successful summer resale events and are opening the Resale Pop-Up Shop tomorrow from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, sign up here to shop. Tricia Davidson, President-Elect, and the Grade Representatives have creatively organized events for the school year to bring our community together.   

 

Countless volunteers and other members of the 2021-22 HPA Board of Directors have worked many hours preparing for events that are sure to bring our school together in celebration and fun this school year. Watch for more details in upcoming Daisy News publications! Also, be sure to check your class pages for grade-level updates to calendars and activities. 

 

Whether you are new to Hockaday or have been here for decades, please get involved with the HPA; there are still many opportunities to sign up. Log into Sign Up Genius and check your child's Division and All School tabs for roles that work with your time and talents. Bookstore, Grade Level Musical, Advisor Parent, and Benefit are all still looking for volunteers!

 

As Dr. Karen Warren Coleman mentioned in Monday's email, an overriding goal of this year is to reconnect as a community.  The Hockaday Parents' Association (HPA) has been and will continue to strive to engage parents to enhance the Hockaday experience for students, faculty, staff, and parents; it's our MISSION! I know together we will tackle uncertainties and continued challenges with a spirit of community and grace that is Hockaday's trademark!
