Poetry Out Loud

Congratulations to Anjy Fadairo (Class of 2025), Asha Gudipaty (Class of 2023), Jessica Chung (Class of 2024), and Ava Shipp (Class of 2024), who were finalists in Hockaday’s Poetry Out Loud competition!

Ava Shipp (far right) was named the winner and will represent Hockaday in the state competition in Austin in February with the possibility of representing the state in the national competition in May. Poetry Out Loud is a national competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. It provides not only recognition of the power of poetry in our lives but also scholarships for students and books for school libraries in all 50 states.
