Middle School Robotics at State Championship

On March 11th, four Hockaday teams (consisting of 23 students) competed in the FIRST LEGO League State Championship in Stafford, Texas. 
The top 54 teams in the state (out of a pool of over 1500 teams) earned a coveted spot at this event.

Daisies Energized (Aiza, Joyce, Sudha, Evie, Cate, Kayla) won the Rising All Star award for their excellent performance in both robot game, robot design, innovation project, and core values. Power Pandas (Jenny, Hannah, Natalia, Sophia, Ira) won 1st place Innovation Project award for their Space Based Solar Panel Design. In addition, Flower Powered (Cecilia, Siena, Virginia, Margaret, Kashmira, Naisha) won a spirit award that earned them a robot set that they plan to donate to a local Dallas school.

Might-ochondria (Miranda, Michell, Kavya, Ameya, Sara, Connie) placed 4th in robot performance and finished overall as one of the top five teams in the state of Texas. They won the Motivate award and earned a spot at the American Robotics Open Championship at the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey.
