Congratulations to Hockaday Publications for Recent Top Awards

Hockaday’s student publications have received a few top awards from The Dallas Morning News and from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

The Dallas Morning News awarded the following:

Best writing Sweepstakes (the best of the best in the competition!): Katie O’Meara and Katie Orsak for their refugee’s story

Aurelia Han will be an intern at The Dallas Morning News this summer, a highly competitive and prestigious program. Aurelia will be writing for the GuideLive section. Look for her stories in the DMN this summer!
 
Mary Orsak was selected to participate in the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference at the Newseum in Washington D.C. this summer. This highly competitive program selects only one student per state—Mary will be the Texas student journalist. She will also receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
 
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association awarded the following recognition with the Crown Awards are the highest recognition given by the CSPA to a student print or digital medium for overall excellence.
