Upper School Faculty Member Published

Congratulations to Hockaday Upper School History teacher Dr. Elizabeth Bennett, who has had a chapter of her dissertation published by Gale Cengage in a new volume of Nineteenth-Century Literature Criticism. The volume is part of a series focused on a variety of interpretations of important writers and their works and is meant as a reference for university students. Dr. Bennett’s essay is about the friendship and literary collaborations between Elizabeth Montagu (1720-1800), an English writer and literary hostess, and George, Lord Lyttelton, a writer and statesman. Bennett’s work draws primarily from unpublished letters between Montagu and Lyttelton, and she argues that their friendship provided Montagu with an outlet for political expression. In the new volume, Dr. Bennett’s essay appears alongside the work of other experts on Elizabeth Montagu.
