Middle School Robotics Wins First Place at the First Lego League (FLL) North Texas Championship

Congratulations to the Middle School Robotics teams for their big wins at the FLL North Texas Championship on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Hocka ‘scuse me? (Jayna Dave, Grace Dorward, Tarini Gupta, Juliana Lu, and Ashna Tambe) won a major award, Core Values: Teamwork, and The Hockabots (Nina Dave, Riya Guttigoli, Anisha Sharma, Stella Wrubel, and Sophia Yung) won the First Place Championship Award for achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project. The Hockabots are headed to the World Championship in Houston on April 18!

In early January, our Middle School Robotics teams competed at the First Lego League (FLL) regional qualifier at Williams High School in Plano. Out of all thirty-six teams, the top ten teams advanced, and three major category awards were given. Team "Hockabots" won the Robot Design award. This award recognizes a team that designs a mechanically sound robot, uses outstanding programming principles, and utilizes a well-developed strategy to design and build an innovative, high performing robot. Team "Hocka ‘scuse me?" won the Core Values award. This award recognizes a team whose members show strong communication, effective problem solving, excellent time management, as well as extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit. 
On January 20, "The Hockabots" and "Hocka ‘scuse me?" went to the Super-Qualifier in Grand Saline and competed among sixty other teams. They won awards again and advanced to the FLL North Texas Championship which was this past weekend. All sixty teams started in a pool of 500 teams
