A Message from Jenn Johnson

Dear Upper School Families,

Please join me in congratulating our varsity winter athletes who competed successfully at the SPC tournament in Houston over the long weekend.  We also want to acknowledge our winter athletes on all teams who worked hard this season, and who proudly represented Hockaday.

At SPC, the Hockaday Varsity Basketball Team lost a close first game against St. John’s in the opening round. They bounced back, however, with a dominating performance in a 42 – 13 win over Episcopal School of Dallas in their second game. The basketball team won their final game on Saturday morning against Oakridge, with a score of 43 – 29, and finished the tournament with a 2-1 record. Read More
The Hockaday Varsity Soccer Team had a thrilling victory in its first game over Episcopal High School Houston, going into double overtime and then finally winning in penalty kicks. In their second game, they played the number one team in the South Zone, Kinkaid, and lost 2 – 1 in a hard-fought game. In their final match of the tournament, the soccer team defeated Episcopal School of Dallas by a score of 1 – 0, earning them third place overall in the SPC tournament!

The Hockaday Swimming and Diving Team went into the SPC Tournament meet ranked in fourth place and finished in third place at SPC behind two tough teams: St. John’s and Kinkaid.  Nearly everyone who swam put up best times for the season. Some highlights include two new school records: Bailey Hollingsworth in diving and Abby Tchoukaleff in the 200-yard freestyle.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches!
