  • Clay Daze

    This class is hands-down, hands-on FUN! You will learn about 3-D design through experimenting with clay, paint, and glazing. We will create small and medium-sized objects, animals, and dioramas inspired by the characters and scenes from your favorite short stories. Bring your imagination and be prepared to create, build, get messy, and have a blast!

  • Cooking Around the World

    Join us for a cooking adventure around the world! Each day will be an immersive trek through a different country. Cook and learn about your favorite dishes from Italy, Mexico, India, Greece, and the USA.

  • New! Discover Magic Purple Wand Course

    Offered by Dallas Magic Academy
    Get ready to take an amazing adventure into the exciting world of Magic. Learn how to read people's minds, make money appear out of nowhere and travel through time with a magic bandanna just to name a few. In this course students will not only learn the 8 basic effects that make up all magic tricks, but more importantly they will discover the real secrets to becoming a true magician as each lesson reveals an important life skill to help build their confidence and communication skills. Each lesson comes with a custom magic prop, a top secret file folder and a secret  word to unlock bonus videos in an online video vault.  This life changing program builds self-confidence and develops critical communication skills in a fun and unique way that is guaranteed to unlock your child's potential and impact the rest of their life.

  • Executive Chefs

    Who's in charge in the kitchen? The Executive Chef! Experience what it's like to run a kitchen by creating your own menu, ordering needed supplies, and making a meal that is delicious to eat and just as beautiful in presentation!

  • Experience Dallas!

    What better way to start your summer than spending days of fun all around the great city of Dallas? We will take five field trips and spend the final day creating a trip journal with pictures and thoughts portraying the journeys of the week. Field trips may include places such as the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, Klyde Warren Park, a local sports arena, the Dallas Zoo, blueberry picking, and more! You will need to bring a backpack with sunscreen, a water bottle, two snacks, and a brown bag lunch. You may bring a camera to take pictures for your trip journal, but it is not necessary as the teachers will also have cameras in hand. This is a popular camp and sells out quickly!

  • Fencing

    Taught by Coach Nelly Evanyk, this class will introduce you to the fundamentals of the Olympic sport of fencing. You will learn various techniques and strategies in three events: foil, epee, and saber. Footwork and blade work will be taught along with physical fitness and critical thinking games. All fencing equipment is provided. For safety reasons, all fencers should wear long athletic pants.

  • New! Field Hockey Camp

    Coached by Jennifer Johnson, Head Varsity Coach at The Hockaday School. Coach Johnson was a 4-year letter winner at Ball State University.

    Come learn the fundamentals of the great game of field hockey! We will work on skills, do some drills, and play some games!

  • First Bike Ride

    Coach Stewart Ball and his staff of coaches have taught hundreds of children to ride a bike. Let us teach you to ride in this popular, low pressure, enjoyable class. All you need is a bike, helmet, water bottle, and snack. Bikes can be kept on campus throughout the week's class.

  • Indoor Rock Climbing

    You are going to love this program! Climbing is a sport that builds strength throughout your entire body. Climbing demands agility, balance, coordination, and problem-solving skills, which is why it is one of the fastest growing rec sports. An American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) certified Climbing Wall Instructor will lead the course, which adheres to AMGA standards for curriculum and instruction. Climbing equipment and transportation to Summit Gym is provided. Wear summer workout clothes.

  • Intermediate Biking

    If you know how to ride your bike, but need more experience or a refresher course, this class is for you! We will emphasize how to safely handle a bike on alternate terrains, ride in small groups, and build fitness with biking. All you need is a bike, helmet, water bottle, and snack.     Offered by Play-Well TEKnologies
    Prepare for an awesome LEGO® camp packed with hands-on and minds-on STEM fun! Build projects inspired by cool machines close to home such as trains, helicopters, treehouses, and beam bridges. Then find Platform 9 3/4, build Hogwarts Express Train, and soar on the wings of a Norwegian Ridgeback Dragon! Engineering and wizardry are the focus of this new themed camp for LEGO® fanatics!

  • Minecraft U

    This is the Minecraft camp for you! Minecraft U follows a progressive curriculum focused on learning computer skills, problem solving, planning and building, but it's Minecraft, so it's always going to be fun! We emphasize cooperative play and teach game etiquette. Included in the camp tuition is one year of access to our Minecraft monitored server, which allows campers continued access to their projects. Our staff is comprised of computer scientists, teachers, and software developers who also enjoy gaming and Minecraft. Pair Minecraft U with another class or sign up for a full day of Minecraft!

    Bringing back the days before kids' sports were a full-time job, when you set up a backyard game with your friends, just for the fun of it-- this is a camp kids love! With an ever-changing lineup of sports and games, we'll roam over the beautiful, shaded Hockaday campus for hours of play. Kickball, flag football, bean bag toss, tag, capture the flag, field hockey, soccer, gaga ball, volleyball, and more! Coach Stewart Ball and his coaching staff will ensure every day will be new and full of energy with a focus on keeping it friendly, fair, and fun. This is a great camp for all ages, sizes, and abilities. This is fun for all!

  • Painting Palooza

    Do you like to paint? Do you wonder where to begin when looking at a blank canvas? Come join us! In this class, you will explore various painting techniques and themes. We will focus on observational painting and explore still–life, landscape, and portrait painting. We will use acrylic and watercolor techniques as you learn composition, mark–making, and wet and dry painting techniques.

  • New! Roblox® and 3-D Game Development

    Offered by Drobots Company
    Roblox® offers students the opportunity to actively engage in the creative process and learn fundamental coding, design, and entrepreneurial skills that will give them the confidence to excel in this week of camp and beyond. Campers will learn how to use the Roblox® engine to create games using the Lua programming language. Our creation tools and educational content will be used to expose campers to unique skills as they collaborate in teams to design blueprints and test their games. In the end, all campers finish the week with a published title that can be shared with families and friends. No prior experience is required. We provide all technology on location.

    Summer at Hockaday's musical is for all who have an interest in musical theatre. No experience is necessary. Come have a blast with us as we produce Seussical JR on stage! Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. "Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper!

  • Sew Fun!

    The machines are ready! You will use hand and machine sewing skills in this popular class. Threading a needle, sewing a running stitch, whip stitch, back stitch, the list goes on. We will also discuss safety tips, patterns, and following directions. You will take home your completed projects and your family will be so impressed!

  • Yoga

    Yoga is a fun form of fitness that provides many benefits to the body and mind. You will learn yoga at your own pace in a non-competitive environment. This class is designed to help you improve balance, develop strength and flexibility, build self-esteem and confidence, and have fun! Story time and making your very own eye pillow will be some of your favorite activities in this popular class.

Creative Arts & SCIENCE Camp (Two-week Camps)

Creative Arts & SCIENCE Camp takes place June 10 through July 19 in two-week, themed sessions.

Creative Arts & SCIENCE Camp is the perfect mix of summer camp, fine arts, and science! Girls and boys experience art, music, creative movement, dramatic play, and science with a balance of creative play, group games, special visitors, water play, and more. Each two-week session is themed and provides a quality experience of fun activities, camp friendships, and new experiences.

Register for all three sessions to ensure a fun and creative summer!
Lunch is included in the camp tuition.
Before Care and After Care are available for an additional fee. 

Please Note: Your child must be 5 by May 1, 2019. If your child will still be 4 on May 1, 2019, we invite you to join our popular Discover Day Camp.

Camp Invention is where BIG ideas become the next BIG thing! Explorations offers a variety of camps and classes that span a wide range of interests. Girls and boys learn through doing in these active and engaging programs.     What is Art Quest all about? Well, imagine setting off on an adventure ...with art supplies!   • Coding with Robots

    This class is coding for beginners! Coding is just a fancy word for the language of computers. Using Pro-Bots, which are robots that look like race cars, and other types of robots, you will "teach" your robot by entering commands on the computer that tell your Pro-Bot which direction to move. Your Pro-Bot will have a marker on board and as it carries out your commands, a design will appear on paper. In addition to Pro-Bots, you will use Bee-Bots and Ozobots along with beginning coding programs in our computer lab. Rumor has it that coding to move an Angry Bird through a maze might be in the plans!

  • Count Me in Math: Prisms and Perfect Squares (Girls Only)

    In this class with a summer-camp twist, you'll think it's all fun and games as you play, dance, create, and compete with other girls your age. Some of the many skills we will cover are multiplication and division facts, positive and negative integers, graphing points on a coordinate plane, sequencing, problem solving, money fractions, decimals, percents, and much more. Come make math FUN with us!

    Swimming instruction is given in the basic strokes. You must have the confidence to get into the pool and put your face in the water. Through games and the guidelines set by the American Red Cross, you will learn to swim!

    Offered by Drobots Company
    Roblox® offers students the opportunity to actively engage in the creative process and learn fundamental coding, design, and entrepreneurial skills that will give them the confidence to excel in this week of camp and beyond. Campers will learn how to use the Roblox® engine to create games using the Lua programming language. Our creation tools and educational content will be used to expose campers to unique skills as they collaborate in teams to design blueprints and test their games. In the end, all campers finish the week with a published title that can be shared with families and friends. No prior experience is required. We provide all technology on location.

    The machines are ready! You will use hand and machine sewing skills in this popular class. Threading a needle, sewing a running stitch, whip stitch, back stitch, the list goes on.     What does it take to sing like a star? We'll begin with playful vocal warm-up exercises to make connections between our bodies and our minds. Vocalizing with fun and age-appropriate vocal drills followed by the basics of singing will be introduced through each exercise and song rehearsal. We will cover singing posture, vocal range, head voice, vocal health, breathing, pitch, rhythm, diction, music reading, stage presence, microphone techniques, and more. The highlight will be a "SHOW TIME!" at the end of the week for family and friends.

    Offered by Drobots Drone STEM Camps
    StemQuest unplugs campers from the computer screen in this narrative-based program. We have intentionally extracted the wide array of exhilarating challenges and mysteries from gaming and esports and generated a live adventure. Campers will use rovers, bots, drones, and other autonomous creative technology to jump over obstacles, push down walls, lift up boulders, toss energy balls, and navigate through mazes. Teams of campers work together indoors, outdoors, and in open-spaced "arenas" throughout the week, utilizing life skills such as: design and systems thinking, collaborative problem solving, curiosity, mindfulness, and imagination to outwit, out-build, and out-smart one another as well as the program instructor, The Wizard! Use your resources wisely to defend the kingdom and lead your clan to victory!

  • Sticky, Slimy, Silly Science

    The name says it all! This science class is sure to get your hands icky, gooey, and dirty! Come join us as we look into the science behind everyone's favorite – SLIME! But, we won't stop there. Each day will include science experiments that are sticky, slimy, and even a little bit silly!

  • Tennis & Swim

    Swimming instruction is given in the basic strokes. You must have the confidence to get into the pool and put your face in the water. Through games and the guidelines set by the American Red Cross, you will learn to swim!
     
    Tennis lessons for beginners will teach you basic strokes with an emphasis on forehand and backhand. We will introduce serving as we work on cardiovascular and strength building. The focus is FUN and MASTERY!
     
    All Tennis & Swim students will spend time cooling off in the Rec Room at the end of class where supervised games and activities will take place. Gaga ball, which was a favorite last summer, will be back!

    Note: We will use the outdoor pool, so please make sure your camper is wearing sunscreen.

  • Ultimate Drone Obstacle Challenge

    Offered by Drobots Company
    Ultimate Drone Obstacle Challenge - Ultimate Drone Obstacle Challenge is specifically designed for both the novice and experienced drone enthusiasts. This week is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world's fastest growing sports, Drone Obstacle Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through different skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone's speed and agility. Campers will use iPads and remote controls to navigate the drone through short and long obstacle courses. Participants will also create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day's final activity and competition. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and the social responsibilities of flying drones are included in this program.

    Do you like to write? What is your favorite style? In this class, you will explore a variety of writing styles. Individual and group projects will include writing assignments in the areas of narrative, descriptive, persuasive, reflective, and informative. As you work with your friends, you will improve your understanding of the writing process.
