The Fourcast, Cornerstones and Vibrato Celebrate an Award-Winning Year

It was another successful year for Hockaday’s publications and journalists. Below is a 2014-15 year-in-review for the Vibrato, Fourcast and Cornerstones.

National Scholastic Press Association
Sixteen journalism sophomores and four seniors traveled to Washington D.C. from Nov. 5 to 8, 2014 to attend the National Scholastic Press Association Fall Conference where Vibrato received the Best of Show Award for literary magazines, Cornerstones received third place for yearbooks over 325 pages, and The Fourcast received sixth place for tabloid newspapers over 17 pages.

Columbia Scholastic Press Organization
Eighteen journalism juniors traveled to New York City to attend the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Spring Conference from March 17 to 21 and were awarded with three Crown Awards; Vibrato received a Gold Crown and Cornerstones and The Fourcast each received a Silver Crown. This year a total of 1,203 newspapers, magazines and yearbooks and digital publications issued during the 2013-2014 academic year were eligible for judging in the 2015 Crown Awards Program. Two hundred and thirty-five publications received a Crown Award; 196 Crowns were given to scholastic publications and 39 Crowns to collegiate publications. Crown Awards are the highest recognition given by the CSPA to a student print or digital medium for overall excellence. Hockaday was one of very few schools in the country that received a Crown Award for each of their publications.
