Summer at Hockaday's popular Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is a valued opportunity for students entering Grades 9 and 10. The CIT program is taught by experienced teachers who have a breadth of knowledge in the realm of volunteerism, team building, child development, and classroom management. As a CIT, you will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a counselor through hands-on experience and practice. You will spend a portion of the session with other CITs teambuilding and learning the skills necessary to allow you to serve as a volunteer, which you will then experience first-hand in selected camps offered by Summer at Hockaday.
Through this program, you are certain to enhance your sense of citizenship and to grow your leadership skills. Delve into volunteerism, all while having fun, enhancing teamwork, and gaining real-world experience!
After completing the one-week training session, you will spend additional weeks volunteering within Summer at Hockaday camps and classes. You will quickly develop your own fan club as our campers and students adore our CITs!
The CIT program is limited to 22 participants. All participants must attend the training sessions held either June 3-7 or June 10-14 and select a minimum of three additional weeks to serve as a CIT. Community service hours will be calculated for each participant.
