Canadian cellist Tess Kent is currently based in Dallas, Texas where she
has quickly gained recognition for her unique musicianship. Her artistry
encompasses many genres and she has performed with esteemed artists
and ensembles such as Yo-Yo Ma, The Eagles, the Canadian Opera
Company, Renée Fleming, Augustine Hadelich, Leon Fleischer,
Evanescence, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Ben Platt, ‘Hadestown’ the Broadway
Musical, Camerata Ireland, the Dallas Chamber Symphony, and many
others.
Tess began playing the cello at age three. She holds two undergraduate
degrees - a Performance Diploma in Cello Performance from The Glenn
Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music
Degree from Thompson Rivers University, as well two graduate degrees - a
Performer’s Diploma and Master’s Degree in Cello Performance from
Southern Methodist University. Tess’s primary teachers include Andrés
Diaz, Chris Adkins, Sasha Adkins, David Hetherington, Shauna Rolston
and Rachel Mercer.
Tess is currently an in demand freelance performer recording artist, and
educator in the DFW area as well as the assistant principal cellist of the
Fort Smith Symphony. In her free time she trains Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and
