Coach Yesela Tadeo joined the Hockaday community in August of 2019 as the Assistant Director of Residence life. She was thrilled to join the basketball program as Assistant JV Coach that winter. Coach Tadeo has always had a passion for basketball and coaching/mentoring young women. At her previous school in California, she was the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach the last six years. She helped lead the team to three consecutive state championship appearances and in 2018, they won the Division 4A State Championship. During that time, she helped build a program that focused on mental toughness, grit, gratitude, and having a growth mindset. She believes that the key to building a successful program is to focus on the fundamentals. Breaking down every drill, play, and game plan, truly helps players understand that a strong foundation is needed in order to continue to build the necessary skills to grow and improve. She hopes that athletes not only gain basketball skills, but also learn to foster strong relationships with teammates, coaches, and gain skills that will help in life.
