Melanie Horn-Foster

Melanie Horn-Foster has been at Hockaday since 2005 and is currently the 8th grade Physical Education Coordinator as well as the Middle School Health Coordinator. Melanie has had the opportunity to teach physical education in all divisions. She was the 5th grade Coordinator and has coached many sports including JV Volleyball, Varsity Assistant Basketball, Varsity Track and Field, Middle School Track and Field, Middle School Basketball, and Middle School Volleyball.  She currently teaches first, second, seventh, and eighth grades and coaches middle school volleyball and Varsity basketball.

Additionally, she has been a certified American Red Cross Instructor since 2014 which allows her to certify our 8th graders in Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED. This is her second year to sponsor the Upper School Bible Study group.  She is responsible for establishing the 8th grade Father/Daughter Basketball Game.
Melanie was educated through the Lake Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Texas A&M – Commerce with a Bachelor of Science in All-Level Kinesiology with a minor in English.

Prior to coming to Hockaday, Melanie taught upper level English at Sulphur Springs High School and coached volleyball, basketball, and track. She was a part of the coaching team where the girls basketball team qualified in the Texas State Regionals. She also served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Tyler Street Christian Academy, and the Varsity Assistant Girls Basketball coach and Varsity Girls/Boys Track Coach at the Episcopal School of Dallas.

Melanie is blessed to have the support of not only her husband, James III, but of her children; Micah and Jamison.  She enjoys spending time with her family and singing when given the opportunity.
