Middle School Robotics had two teams compete at the Williams High School FLL Qualifier on December 15th. The Space Daisies (Tarini Gupta, Sena Asom, Deniz Gurun, Ai-Vy Ho, Angelina Dong, and Christina Dong) won the First Place Champions award. This award is given to the best overall team at the competition. The Space Daisies have qualified for the championship at Parish Episcopal on February 9. The Intergalactic Unicorns (Ayla Sumer, Savannah Frederiksen, Megan Manning, Alex Blue Baron, and Shifa Irfan) won the Judges Award. This award goes to a team that is a favorite amongst the judges. They qualified for the Super Qualifier on January 12 at Kimball High School. Our first round of competitions are complete, and we are so pleased that all five Middle School Hockaday robotics teams won awards and are advancing to the next rounds. These girls have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into preparing for their competitions. We had many coaches, students, and parents comment on our Hockaday girls’ poise, polish, and preparedness. I extend a deep appreciation to Laura Baker and Lisa Dwinal who have guided the girls through both the preparation for these events and the competitions, even spending extra hours on weekends and after school. Thank you also to our volunteer parents who help support the coaches and girls. Bravo, Hockaday Robotics! |
