Lower School Grandparents’ Day

Grandparents’ Day 2019 for Lower School is on Thursday, April 18:
  • 8:45 – 10:30    Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, Primer
  • 12:00 – 2:00    Grades One through Four
Invitations were mailed to your daughter’s grandparents if you shared their contact information with Hockaday. Grandparents have been asked to RSVP by emailing LSgrandparent@hockaday.org.

Grandparents’ Day is one of our favorite days in Lower School. Please be aware that it is intended to be a time for our young children to interact with grandparents or special adult friends—this is why parents do not participate in the event (unless they are among the volunteers who assist with logistics). If your daughter does not have a grandparent who can join her, we will be happy to have her invite a special “adopted or substitute grandparent.” This can be an older relative (not a parent, please), friend, or neighbor. An “adopted” grandparent should be invited ONLY if a child does not have a grandparent who is able to come, not in addition to a grandparent. If no adopted grandparent or older friend is available to attend, your child can still have a wonderful experience on this day. We will be happy to make arrangements for her to “share a grandparent” with another child in her class. This has worked very well in the past, and we’ll be glad to arrange this for your child if she needs it. Just let us know.
