Hockaday blew away the field at the MS BVU Invitational Meet at St Marks on Friday with a 1st place finished overall. It was a beautiful day and evening for a track meet, and Hockaday girls took advantage of that. Everyone competed, tried their best, and we had outstanding results. In our field events, we started the meet with 1
st, 2
nd, and 4
th place finish in the Long Jump (Avery Jackson, Maia Hartley, and Addison London). Then Maia ran over to the Shot Put and grabbed a 3
rd place finish there! The first running event was the mile, and Caroline Petrikas got 4
th and Susu Campbell came in 8
th. We all had a long break at that point before they started the running events again at
4:30p. Our 4x100 relay team (Maia Hartley, Zariah Arrington, Bronwynn Blair, and Jaden Thomas) was up next and they won the event by a long shot. Then Caroline Petrikas came back in the 800M to grab a 3
rd place finish, while Susu Campbell got 5
th. Our twins, Addison and Riley London competed well in the 100 Hurdles by placing 4
th and 7
th respectively. In the 100M, Jaden Thomas got 3
rd and Maia Hartley (rested from the LJ and Shot Put) got 4
th. We had outstanding finishes and efforts in the 400M with a 3
rd, 4
th, and 5
th place finish by Zariah Arrington, Avery Jackson, and Brie Johnson. Lola Isom was able to hurdle to a 2
nd place finish in the 300M hurdles. We also had 3 strong finishes in the 200M. Ambyr Baker finished in 5
th, while Jaden Thomas grabbed 6
th and Bronwynn Blair came in 8
th. Finally, the finale, our 4x400M team made up of Brie Johnson, Zariah Arrington, Lola Isom, and Bronwynn Blair, finished well ahead of the field in
FIRST place!!! Hockaday held the first place position as a team the entire meet. We are all very proud of the girls efforts
today, and of course so happy with a first place team finish!
