The Space Daisies Selected as Finalists in 2019 Thomas Edison Pitch Contest

Congratulations to the Space Daisies who won First Place in the Edison Pitch Contest in New Jersey! They were awarded a 3D printer for Hockaday and several prizes. More than 150 students, from 60 teams and 17 states competed in the contest. Coached by Middle School Science Teacher Laura Baker, the girls have worked tirelessly for the past nine months developing their robotic’s prototype “Buzz Gloves.” The Space Daisies “Buzz Gloves” alert astronauts when too much force is exerted through a haptic sensor that touches the fingers. Currently, astronauts pressurized gloves prevent them from feeling how much force they are exerting when working in space. Because of this, astronauts frequently break nails and damage fingers.
