Email Security

You may be aware that recently a suspicious phishing email was circulated within the Hockaday Community.  We wanted to take this opportunity to review some basic email handling practices that will contribute to keeping your email account secure.
  • Don’t click on links contained in email from unknown senders unless you are expecting the link or can verify that it is safe.
  • Before entering any credentials or personal information, check to see that the website address matches the site you intend to visit.
  • Avoid using one password for multiple accounts.  Having unique passwords will limit the negative effects of a compromised password.
  • Be vigilant.  If the subject or content of the email looks sketchy, or unusual - delete the email.  Follow up with the sender if needed.
