Students and Faculty attend NAIS People of Color and Student Diversity Leadership Conferences

Hockaday participated in the NAIS People of Color Conference and the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference held in Seattle, Washington. More than 7,000 educators and students from nine countries were represented. Educators explored the theme of Amplifying Our Intelligence to Liberate, Co-create, and Thrive. They were provided a safe space for leadership, professional development, and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools. Upper School students focused on self-reflection, forming allies, and building community with the focus of Integrating Schools, Minds, and Hearts With the Fierce Urgency of NowLed by a diverse team of trained adult and peer facilitators, participating students developed cross-cultural communication skills, designed effective strategies for social justice practice through dialogue and the arts, and learned the foundations of allyship and networking principles.
