Emerald Lockett is a Varsity Lacrosse Assistant Coach at Hockaday. She has recently earned her MS from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, where she was recruited as a scholar on the University’s 1st Team. She also coached the University of Nottingham’s 3rd, 4th, and Beginners teams while competing and studying in England. Emerald trained alongside teammates of the England and Welsh National teams during this time. During her undergraduate years, Emerald attended and received and athletic scholarship to play for the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina. She became a part of UMO Women’s Lacrosse team history, as they brought home the Conference Carolinas Championship title for the first time in 2015. As a second-year start up program, the UMO Women’s Lacrosse team upheld their national ranking in the Top 20 from 2015 to when she graduated in 2017. It was during this time that Emerald’s passion for lacrosse grew uncontrollably. In particular, she specializes in defensive sets and was a part of a nationally ranked defensive unit at UMO beginning in 2015. Emerald captained the team during her senior year, while remaining on the Conference Carolinas All Academic team during both years as an upperclassman. As she continues to transform from player to coach, Emerald is driven, dedicated, and believes her athletic experience will aid Coach Ford and Coach Cook to achieve success with Hockaday lacrosse.
