Hockaday hosts MS Track Meet

We have been so fortunate to have beautiful weather this spring for track meets!  Hockaday hosted Greenhill, Cistercian, Good Shepherd, and Providence on Thursday afternoon.  We started the meet with our field event athletes moving ahead of the rest of the field in two events.  Hockaday led the Pole Vault with Ava Thigpen jumping 6’9”, and Avery Jackson led the field in the High Jump with a 4’6” jump.  We also had six girls throwing the discus with Sophia Fowler throwing a 48’2” for our best throw.   We had ten girls in the first running event, the 800M Run.  Eight of our ten girls ran a personal best with Katherine Shoup winning the event in 2:46.13.  We had three teams entered in the first relay, the 4x100.  The team of Ashna Tambe, Zariah Arrington, Avery Jackson, and Jaden Thomas won the event with a time of 53.16.  We had three runners in the 300M hurdles with Ava Thigpen running a very fast 53.13 and Paloma Duarte running a huge personal best of 59.94.  There were 13 Hockaday girls running in the 200M run.  Zariah Arrington won the event with a 27.34, and Avery Jackson and Jaden Thomas not far behind. We had 3 runners in the 1600M run with Ava Thigpen running a personal best of 6:22.12, and Erin Yuan and Georgia Fuller running personal best as well.  The last event of the day was the 4x400 relay with two Hockaday teams running.  The winning team of Annabel Callahan, Zariah Arrington, Ava Thigpen, and Avery Jackson had a time of 4:36.37 and the team of Ashna Tambe, Jaden Thomas, Ryan Brown, and Katelyn Hanna running not far behind with a time of 4:55.59.  We had a great meet with many personal best.  It is a busy week for us as we have our next meet this Friday, March 13 at the BVU Invitational at St. Marks.
