Student Absences

Absences Due to Quarantine
With the recently announced shortened quarantine and isolation periods, absences due to Covid-related illness or quarantine will be handled like other excused absences in Lower School. Please see the updated policies for missed work/classes for excused absences. (Criteria for excused and unexcused absences are listed below.) Lower School will not hold classes on Zoom when students are ill or placed in quarantine.
  • Missed assignments will be collected daily (not in advance), and parents have the option to pick up this work for students to complete at home. iPads may be sent home for students to complete work on Seesaw or other apps.
  • If you would like to pick up your daughter’s missed schoolwork, please contact her homeroom teacher. After you receive confirmation from her teacher, materials will be available for pick up after 4:00 pm in the LLARC lobby.
  • If a student is unable to complete work during her absence, work can be completed upon return to School
Excused Absences
These are absences over which the student or her family has no control (illness, school-required quarantine, tragedy or death in the family, transportation breakdown, medical tests, and religious holidays).

Unexcused Absences
These are absences that do not meet the above criteria. All homework accumulated during the student’s absence will be available upon the student’s return. Teachers do not assemble work packets for students to take on trips. All absences due to family vacation trips will be regarded as unexcused absences.
