A Note from the Health Center

As we head into colder weather, colds, cases of flu, and other respiratory illnesses are more common. We are seeing an increase in students out sick with influenza-like illnesses in all divisions.
Teach your child the following ways to avoid getting and spreading infection:
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Cover coughs and sneezes (we teach them to cough into a tissue, their upper sleeve or elbow, not their hands)
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
  • Avoid social gatherings when ill
Consider having all eligible household members vaccinated for influenza as soon as possible; it is not too late. Children 6 months and older can receive a flu shot.

Please remember our general attendance guidelines and keep your child at home if they have any of the following symptoms:
  • Temperature over 100.4: Return when fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
  • Vomiting - 2 or more times in 24 hours: Return after tolerating 1 to 2 meals without vomiting.
  • Diarrhea - 3 or more episodes of loose stools in a 24-hour period: Return once diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of diarrhea-suppressing medication.
