Screening Tests for PK, K/Primer, First, and Second Grade Girls

Hockaday is committed to instilling in your daughter a love of learning. Even our youngest daisies delight in expressing their thoughts and are beginning to develop early reading skills. Language skills are the building blocks of reading, and good reading skills are important to academic success and to learning in general. We are fortunate at Hockaday to have screening tests given by the Shelton Speech Center to every student in PK – Second Grade, the results of which are shared with each child’s teacher, so that we may provide or recommend any additional support that your daughter may need. These assessments will take place for Kindergarten through Second Grade students from August 28 – September 1 and for PK students on October 17 - 19. If your daughter has any potential reading or speech/language issue, her teacher or a member of the learning support team will call you directly. Screening results for each child will be shared during the November parent conferences.
