  • Hockaday 28 – HSAA 14

For only the second time all season, the 71’s found themselves in a deficit early. HSAA jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and then extended it to 11-0 early in the second quarter. However, the determined Daisies then brought out their tenacious defense, and through a team total of 24 steals and 44 rebounds, fought their way back to victory. Everyone on the team collected rebounds and steals! HSAA was only able to score three points for the remaining two thirds of the game! Claire Rattan was instrumental in closing down HSAA’s point guard and the key in creating scoring opportunities for our offense. Michelle Mankoff was again the team leader in assists and also helped make the offense operate. Claire Jurgensmeyer was unstoppable with team highs in scoring (13 points), rebounding (17), and steals (6). Sarah Mathew, Mary Orsak and Kaleigh Beacham contributed with their outstanding defense. Also scoring in the game were Claire Rattan 7, Michelle Mankoff 4, Abby Bush 2, and Shelby Schultz 2.With the win last night the 71’s basketball team improved our record to 12-0. On Tuesday, 1/29, we take on our rivals Greenhill, at home at 4:00. Come out and cheer for these hardworking Daisies! We look forward to seeing you at the game!
