Hockaday Succeeds at First Harvard-MIT Math Tournament

The Hockaday Math Club was invited to bring one team to participate in the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 21, 2015.  This is one of the hardest international mathematics competitions, consisting of five hours of math tests (three challenging 50-minute individual tests, a one-hour proof based team test, and one 90-minute guts round competition).

There were 90 teams that participated from all over the world, but Hockaday was the only all girls team.  Due to the level of difficulty teams usually recruit participants from various schools.  The second place team consisted of students from several different schools in California. This was the first time Hockaday competed in the HMMT, and the girls got 73rd overall, beating 17 teams.

The following eight girls represented the Hockaday Math Team at HMMT:Elizabeth Guo, Elizabeth Zhou, Jasmine Jin, Lydia Li, Violet Li, Annie Lin, Mary Zhong, and Sarah Zhou.
