Hockaday Publications Earn Top Awards

It has been another successful year for Hockaday publications, writers and illustrators. Catherine Jiang received a Gold Key and a Silver Key in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards, and Meredith Burk and Stejara Dinulescu received Honorable Mentions;Meredith for Drawing and Illustration, and Stejara for Printmaking.
 
The Dallas Morning News announced the Annual High School Conference and Competition finalists. This year there is a new format. Instead of having schools compete by size, all schools in the metropolitan area compete against one another, and they will award Gold, Silver and Bronze in each category—making the process more competitive. Winners will be announced on March 26 during the DMN High School Journalism Day. Hockaday finalists include:

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced the Gold Circle winners for the 2014 yearbooks. The Cornerstones was recognized with:

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced the 2015 Crown Awards finalists at the end of December. The Fourcast, Cornerstones and Vibrato are all finalists this year. Crown Awards are the highest recognition given by the CSPA to a student print or digital medium for overall excellence. This year a total of 1,203 newspapers, magazines and yearbooks and digital publications issued during the 2013-2014 academic year were eligible for judging in the 2015 Crown Awards Program. All finalists will receive either a Gold or Silver Crown. The final announcement will be made at the CSPA convention in New York on March 20, 2015 at the CSPA 91st spring convention.
