Violet Li and Amanda Jin Win Piano Competition

Students won first place in the high school level of the 8th Annual Youth Duo-Piano Competition.
Violet Li (Class of 2016) and Amanda Jin (Class of 2018) won at the competition at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. The competition is a celebration of young pianists and the skilled collaboration between two such performers, and duo-piano playing is defined as performing music specifically composed for a player at each of two pianos. The repertoire chosen for the festival was originally conceived, arranged or transcribed for the duo-piano genre and could not exceed a maximum performance length of seven minutes. Their performance of the 2nd movement of Mozart Sonata in D major, K. 448 for two pianos was exceptional and recognized by the judges. In addition to receiving certificates for their first-place finish, the girls also received a cash prize.
