Boarder Buddy Families

We would like to invite you to participate in the Residence Life Boarder Buddy Family Program for the 2016-2017 school year. More than 40 families participated this year, and we are so appreciative of their support and hope that many will maintain their relationships with our returning residents. We are looking for 40 additional families to open their hearts and homes to newly-enrolled residents from small towns and big cities, from the U.S. and countries worldwide. Read more
The purpose of the Boarder Buddy Family Program is to give our residents familial experiences outside the dormitories while they are away from their own families. The Residence Life program at Hockaday is enhanced when buddy families maintain close, friendly contact with the girls, helping them to feel more comfortable and supporting them through many new experiences.

Relationships are rooted in outings, family dinners at the Boarder Buddy family home, attendance at the boarder’s athletic events and performances, and more. For some of the girls, home is quite a distance away and it can be lonely to see day classmates greeting family after school events and functions. Boarder Buddy Families often fill that void. For all of our residents, having a surrogate family who cares can make a significant difference in the quality of their Hockaday experience.
