  • A Message from the Headmistress

This year, as I have listened to the many voices of the Hockaday community, I came to the conclusion that my personal theme for the School should be “simplicity.” As Interim Headmistress, my goal is to make this coming year a bridge to the future that opens all sorts of marvelous possibilities for the School. I hope to manage a seamless transition to a new year that will deepen and enrich our sense of community, and to help the School plan strategically for the future so that we will have continued excellence in all areas and the financial security to support our dreams.

After having served as Eugene McDermott Headmistress from 1990 – 2004, I am enjoying reliving my memories of Hockaday and am more thankful than ever for all that the School gave the Lees.  I am also anticipating the coming year and am affirmed in my decision to come back.

The Four Cornerstones

Miss Hockaday identified the Four Cornerstones in 1914, one year after the School's opening, and they continue to serve as the foundation for the work we do with students.
