On Tuesday, August 28th, the Hockaday Varsity Field Hockey team played their season opener against Fort Worth Country Day. Within the first 4 minutes, Charlotte Benedict scored a goal off of an assist by Penelope Piccagli. Just a few minutes later, Meg Wilson scored the second goal of the game off a corner play, propelling Hockaday to a 2-0 lead 8 minutes into the game. With only a few minutes remaining in the first half, Fort Worth Country Day scored off a corner making it 2-1. The second half remained scoreless until Fort Worth Country Day scored their second goal of the match with 8 minutes to play tying the score. In her first Varsity appearance, Emma Schnitzius had 7 saves in the goal. The final score was 2-2 in HVFH’s first game of the season.
