Hockaday in Oklahoma

Hockaday Crew raced 8 of 31 rowers this weekend at the Head of the Oklahoma. The lineups raced were “balanced” boats for the 4000-meter races. On Saturday, the crews for each of the two women’s youth quads we entered had two experienced varsity rowers and two first-year varsity rowers in the boat. Similarly, on Sunday the two women’s doubles and two women’s lightweight doubles we raced paired off an experienced varsity rower with a first-year varsity rower. We also entered one quad in the 500-meter night sprints, racing under the big lights. While we were “under stroking” our competition at this early point in the season (with the exception of the Night Sprints), the girls raced well and steered good courses down the Oklahoma River.
