Historic Achievement for French Students

On March 28, 2025, 16 Eighth Grade students participated in the National French Contest (Le Grand Concours), a prestigious annual competition for French language learners across the United States.
The contest tests students in listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and reading, and awards top scorers with bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medals.
For the first time in Hockaday history, every single one of our 16 remarkable French students earned a national award—an extraordinary testament to their commitment, perseverance, and academic excellence. Even more impressive, this year's results mark the strongest performance that our middle school has ever seen: 13 students achieved Platinum, the highest honor possible, by earning perfect scores with zero errors in both listening and reading comprehension.

This remarkable accomplishment not only highlights the students’ exceptional mastery of the French language, but also raises the bar for excellence within Hockaday’s French program.

Our platinum recipients were: Kayla A, Bridget C, Deetya D, Elise F, Lily H, Anya H, Diya K, Ellie K, Sarah N, Hannah P, Eloise R, Annalisa R, Yihan S.
Our gold recipients were: Jordan L and Josephine H.
Our silver recipient was: Harper L.

Congratulations to all our French students!
