Students Intern at Local Magazine

This summer, 13 Hockaday students joined us in the Brighter office to learn editorial, design, and business skills. They learned firsthand what it is like to create a publication, creating their own "illuminate" guide, a young woman’s guide to cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection.
These young ladies interviewed experts in oncology, nutrition, dermatology, and more to create a guide to young women’s health as they enter a new phase of life.

Along with writing and designing their own publication, the participants also had weekly Lunch and Learn sessions designed to equip them in all aspects of their lives. They heard from published authors, geneticists, nutritionists, cancer survivors, entrepreneurs, and more. Throughout the course of the summer, these incredible students raised over $16,000 to support Brighter’s mission of serving women affected by any type of cancer nationwide.

"The illuminate guide will be released very soon, and we can’t wait for everyone to see what these ladies have accomplished," said Caitlin Sweany, Managing Editor.
