A Note from Safety and Security

At Hockaday, the safety and well-being of every student is at the heart of all that we do. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us maintain a safe and secure campus environment for all.  Provided below is a reminder of our Connect to Host Policy.

Any individual who is not a current student, faculty, or staff member is considered a visitor. During school hours, all visitors, including parents, are asked to first check in at either the Hoak Portico or LLARC. From there, our team will help connect you with your designated host before you continue to other areas of campus.

This process allows our Safety and Security Team to keep track of who is on campus while also ensuring that each guest is greeted, assisted, and guided with care.
Dear Hockaday Parents and Guardians,

At Hockaday, the safety and well-being of every student is at the heart of all that we do. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us maintain a safe and secure campus environment for all.

We also recognize that campus routines and procedures can sometimes feel inconvenient, especially during a busy school day. Please know that every measure we put in place is thoughtfully designed with the care, safety, and experience of your daughters in mind.

With that in mind, I would like to briefly revisit our Connect to Host Policy, which has been in place for several years and remains an important part of how we keep our campus both safe and welcoming.

What is the Connect to Host Policy?

Any individual who is not a current student, faculty, or staff member is considered a visitor. During school hours, all visitors, including parents, are asked to first check in at either the Hoak Portico or LLARC. From there, our team will help connect you with your designated host before you continue to other areas of campus.

This process allows our Safety and Security Team to keep track of who is on campus while also ensuring that each guest is greeted, assisted, and guided with care.

When is the Connect to Host Policy Enforced?

The Connect to Host Policy is in place throughout the school day, including during the summer months while we host Summer at Hockaday. In many cases, your host (faculty or staff member) will notify us in advance of your visit, which helps us make your arrival as smooth and seamless as possible.

There may be times when an immediate connection with a host is not possible. When that happens, our team will work to quickly verify your visit and help direct you where you need to go. We sincerely appreciate your patience in those moments.

During large campus events and community gatherings, this process may be adjusted to allow for easier access, while our team continues to maintain a visible and attentive security presence.

A Note on Advance Communication

We understand that many visits during the school day – such as volunteering or supporting school activities – are part of what makes our community so special. For planned visits with a faculty or staff member, we kindly ask that your host provide Security advance notice whenever possible.

This small step allows us to better support your experience on campus while continuing to uphold the safety practices that protect our entire community.

Thank you again for your understanding, your flexibility, and your continued partnership. We are proud to work alongside you in creating an environment that is not only safe, but also welcoming and supportive for all.

Warm regards,
Jeff Arrington
