Hockaday Student Wins 2017 Texas Poetry Out Loud Competition

Grace Cai '17 won the 2017 Texas Poetry Out Loud competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation, and the Texas Commission on the Arts. As the winner, Grace receives $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete for the national championship. Hockaday will receive a $500 stipend for the purchase of poetry books.
